Mounjaro

Hi everyone! I have recently resumed my weight-loss rollercoaster by going on Mounjaro, which is injectable stuff the next generation after Ozempic. My new doctor suggested it - I went for a medical certificate for the flu and she got me to come back when I was feeling better to talk about weight loss. I was back at my highest-ish weight of 85kg, which is a lot for a 154cm (5'1/2''). Always tired. I've been enduring perimenopause for at least 10 years now, and frequent night sweats don't help with the energy levels either. So I agreed to try Mounjaro. I've lost 9 kg so far, in 4 months, which I am very happy with, and I've been lucky with fairly mild side effects. Nausea and fatigue for a couple of weeks when I increase dosage (not great, but bearable), and a postage stamp-sized itchy injection site for most of the week - I rotate the spot each time.

I've been reading some forums, and results and side effects vary, but it's working for me. Fatigue is my biggest side effect. Mounjaro makes you less hungry but also slows digestion and reduces food absorption, so I'm taking some vitamins and trying to eat better to make sure I get what my body needs - I always eat plenty of protein but still need to increase vegetables. I rarely eat junk now except a couple of squares of chocolate every evening. I spent the first couple of months just trying to increase my walking, but joined the gym three weeks ago and am trying for 2 x Body Pump (weights class) and 2 x Zumba (dance class) each week, then walking on the other days - outside or on our little treadmill. Doing pretty well. I tried one Body Step class and I definitely wasn't ready for that yet!

I'm still wearing my "big" clothes which are getting loose. I had stored away some of my favourite smaller clothes and I'm nearly ready for those, plus I will do some shopping when I've lost 10kg (soon!). Also, when I get down to 70kg I am going to get a lovely medieval dress like I've always wanted. My eventual goal is 60kg - I told the doctor that then kind of took it back as being unrealistic but she seemed to think it was quite possible. We'll see.

I'll keep you posted.
