Monday:
Tim had the day off (Family and Community Day: a public holiday local to my city, when you're the politician/public servant capital you make your own rules) and the school holidays have started, so we all had a nice rest day. Played Dungeons and Dragons. I was really tired all day, these weekends away are exhausting! It was a good day.

Day off
Wednesday:
I had a day off from exercise today, even though I've only done two days so far. I don't have the car on Wednesdays so couldn't get to the gym, but also it's a good break for my body. Not so much my muscles, they were all ok today, but other things like the spot under my left arm where my bra rubbed when I was hot and sweaty on the rowing machine (that particular rowing action often gets me there) and the palms of my hands were not used to 20 mins elliptical and 20 mins rowing, grasping the handles. I know it sounds kind of silly, but I've talked before about my girly feet and I also have girly hands! I'm a writer, ok? my hands aren't used to anything tougher than floating over the keyboard. Once I tried to mow the lawn and got blisters on my hands. I need to toughen them up a bit, but not all at once. One day off will be enough, then back into it tomorrow.
I did do a tiny bit of weight lifting in the lounge room. I need some new free weights. Mine are only 1.5 kg each, too light, and my husband's are 5 kg each, too heavy. I need some that are just right! It was funny when I bought the 5 kg ones for my husband for Christmas, just getting the 10 kg home was so hard! Then wrapping them and getting them to the hotel as we were away that Christmas, and lugging the parcel from my suitcase to the little travel tree. I was so glad when they passed into his possession and were his problem.
I did some more revising on my novel today, and also finished re-reading a book in one of my favourite series ever, by Robin Hobb. There are several trilogies set in the same world with some of the same people. I was finishing the second trilogy about Fitz and the Fool, and I cried and cried. Some happy tears, some sad. I can never write that well, but I am going to give it my best shot. My work will be the best I can make it.

Easter
Sunday:
I decided not to track over Easter. I have not been absolutely stuffing myself, but I've been a lot more relaxed about food. Chocolate eggs, pork crackling, and French toast. I also haven't really done any exercise, though that was more to do with my sore sunburnt shoulders. I'm taking a little break from being healthy.
It's been a nice three days. Lots of relaxing at home, an afternoon Easter Egg hunt with friends, an evening bonfire and Easter Egg hunt with other friends. We cleaned the fish tank and bought some little neon tetras to brighten it up, and rearranged the furniture in the lounge room. I've played computer games quite a bit. I've eaten plenty of chocolate and other nice things, and read books I've wanted to read for a while. Today in particular I've felt very relaxed. So I don't regret this time away from weight loss, I'll return refreshed on Tuesday after I've eaten some more chocolate tomorrow.

Rest Day
Monday
I am so glad for a day off exercise today. I was pretty exhausted after Saturday's efforts and completely wiped after Sunday's class. I am definitely not yet ready for six days a week -- let alone seven! I don't know if I will ever be ready for seven. I still have two more weeks of "warm up" before I go really hard, and I am on schedule. Eight gym sessions in 15 days is pretty damn good, and they are getting more intense.
I did better with the food yesterday, I did eat a little after dinner but only before 8 pm. Today I had lazy nachos for lunch (corn chips with salsa and lots of cheese -- no meat) which wasn't so healthy.
We went for a drive yesterday afternoon, looking for snow. There wasn't any near us (Corin Forest is only 45 mins away, they had snow there 2 weeks ago but not yesterday) but we walked around a bit, up and down a steep hill. My legs actually felt better for the stretching, they were worse when I sat still for a long time.
I had a headache all yesterday from when I got home from the gym, and still had it this morning but it seems to have gone now. It felt like a sinus headache -- my husband has the sniffles and I hope I don't catch a cold from him.

Day Five - resting
This morning, snuggled down in a warm bed until 7.30, I felt very strongly motivated to find some way to exercise regularly that did not involve getting up at 5.45. But after checking my gym class schedule I don't see how I can. I really need to do classes, working out on my own doesn't motivate me. My gym has some 9.30 classes, but none that I like/can do with my shoulder restrictions. Also, that would cut heavily into my very limited work time. I could potentially try another gym, but I have paid at this one until November. I did try another gym once, but after the year there ran out I came back to my Club Pink. It is a really nice gym, it is just that the 9.30 classes have gradually been swapped for the wrong ones. But for the moment, that is what I have to work with, so it looks like I am still doing the 6.15 ones.
The original plan was 6 days per week of vigorous exercise, but after yesterday's breakdown I have decided I am not ready for that. I am changing to 5 days so that I can have an extra break in the middle. My current concept is:
Saturday - after lunch, use gym equipment eg cross trainer (no classes at a time I can go)
Sunday - 9.00 am, 50/50 class (aerobics/Step)
Monday - 6.15 am, Xtraining and core class
Tuesday - day off (but I walk a bit on Tuesdays)
Wednesday - 6.15 am BodyStep
Thursday - 6.15 am BodyPump
Friday - day off
I still get a good variety, and only have to get up early 3 days a week instead of 5. Of course this week is a bit different, I am taking today off (Thursday) so I will go tomorrow, no class so I will use the equipment and I don't have any urgent work so I will go at 9.30 am. Oh, actually I am getting my legs waxed at 9.30, so I will go after that.
One challenge for the two days I don't exercise is that I don't get those extra 'exercise calories' that I have been relying on. If I run out by the end of the day I might have to do some exercise anyway just to earn myself dinner! It is probably a good idea to go for a walk or something anyway.
I'm feeling tired and run down today, I definitely needed the break so I can get back into it with energy tomorrow. It was so so lovely to sleep in until a normal time!
